Carbon Steel EN-42 Bars consist of mostly carbon (0.38-0.45%) and a balanced composition of manganese (0.60-0.90%), silicon (0.17-0.37%), and minute traces of phosphorus and sulfur. These constituents impart the steel superior strength, hardness, and resistance to wear. The mechanical characteristics of EN-42 bars consist of tensile strength between 560 and 700 MPa and yield strength of approximately 380 MPa, which is suitable for high-stress applications. The steel shows good ductility, toughness, and is machinable and heat-treatable and provides versatility for use in diverse engineering applications.
