Carbon Steel EN-36C bars consist mainly of carbon, manganese, chromium, and traces of silicon and sulfur, providing high wear resistance and toughness. The general composition contains about 0.36% carbon, 0.60-0.90% manganese, and 0.80-1.10% chromium. These bars are heat-treatable, which allows for high hardness and strength. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 700-900 MPa, yield strength of 400-600 MPa, and elongation of 16-18%. Being stronger in hardness, toughness, and machinability, EN-36C bars are best suited for heavy-duty applications such as gears, shafts, and crankshafts.
